Tee Off, Golf and Movie Fans
Swing into summer on July 3, 1 p.m., with a screening of the film, “The Phantom of the Open,” starring Oscar winner Mark Rylance, at Bal Harbour Waterfront Park, 18 Bal Bay Dr. The event is presented in partnership with the Miami Film Festival. Based on a true story, this heartwarming film tells the tale of an amateur golfer who dared to dream big.
Following the screening, enjoy a discussion about the film with Lauren Cohen, director of programming at the Miami Film Festival. The screening is open to Bal Harbour residents, and the event will feature light refreshments and a chance to try your hand at a temporary putting green.
Space is limited, pre-registration is encouraged.
Picnic in the Park
Bal Harbour will celebrate Independence Day on July 4 at Waterfront Park for a Picnic in the Park, with live musical entertainment, crafts, games, and family fun. The fun starts at 3 p.m. That evening, head over to Bal Harbour Beach North (by the Jetty) 10301 Collins Ave., for a dessert reception, followed by a drone show and fireworks finale. Freebee transportation will be available throughout the day.

Celebrate Independence Early
Start your Independence Day celebration one day early. North Bay Village will present its Independence Day Celebration on July 3, 6-8 p.m. with a free barbecue dinner, live music, dunk tank, water slide, and more fun activities at Dr. Paul Vogel Park, 7920 West Dr.

Fill Those Backpacks
Help kids return to school next month by donating the supplies they need to North Miami’s Backpack School Supply Drive. The most in-demand items are:
New backpacks, #2 pencils, calculators, crayons, markers, blunt scissors, pencil boxes, rulers, glue sticks, loose leaf paper-college, wide-ruled paper, composition, notebooks, spiral notebooks, and erasers. Supplies can be dropped off at two locations, the lobby of North Miami Police Department, 770 NE 124 St., Mon. through Fri., 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and the North Miami Public Library, 835 NE 132 St. Mon., 9:30 a.m to 6 p.m.; Tues., Wed., Thurs., 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Fri. and Sat 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Celebrate by the Bay
Celebrate America’s independence in style at Celebration by the Bay, an event honoring the nation’s history and culture. There will also be activities, food trucks, and a fireworks display. The fun takes place July 4, 6 to 9 p.m. at the FIU Biscayne Bay Campus, 3000 NE 151 St., rain or shine.
