CAPTURE: A Portrait of the Pandemic
HistoryMiami Museum 101 West Flagler Street, Miami, Florida 33130
In the year 2020, the city of Miami, along with the entire world, suffered a devastating blow from the onset of COVID-19. A place where hundreds of thousands of people flocked to year-round for vacation getaways, destination weddings, nightlife, food, culture, and more, had become ground zero for racial injustice protests, widespread homelessness, and an endangered entertainment industry on the brink of implosion. CAPTURE: A Portrait of the Pandemic features images taken by Rahsaan “Fly Guy” Alexander, a native of Miami who has spent the past 15 years as one of the city’s most sought after club DJs. The selections shown by HistoryMiami Museum will be a visual representation of what Miami has experienced since March 2020.
