Two decades ago, Art Basel Miami Beach arrived as the main attraction. Today, it's just one star in a constellation.
Miami's art fair scene has exploded since 2002, transforming from a handful of satellite events into a week-long cultural phenomenon that rivals the Swiss import that started it all. This year's Miami Art Week, running Dec. 1-7, features dozens of showcases across the city — proof that Miami has evolved from art world destination to art world capital.
The city's homegrown fairs now command their own spotlight, drawing collectors, galleries and artists who no longer see them as mere alternatives to the main event. With so many options spread across South Florida, navigating the week can be overwhelming.
Biscayne Times has curated a selection of not-to-be-missed fairs, exhibitions, and pop-ups to help art lovers make the most of Miami Art Week.
