CELEBRATE VENEZUELAN CULTURE
This is your last chance to catch “Viva La Parranda” produced by Miami New Drama at the Colony Theatre on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. Dubbed a documentary musical, “Viva La Parranda” is an immersive cultural experience, with music, dance, storytelling, and food. Real-life members of La Parranda el Clavo — an amateur, virtuosic band from a small coastal town in the Venezuelan jungle — present the compelling and heartwarming stories of their lives and history. They even cook dishes from their homeland on stage that the audience then gets to sample. “Viva La Parranda” runs through Sunday, Aug. 16.
A SPLASHY WAY TO ENJOY SUMMER VIBES
There’s still five weeks of summer left, but you’d never know it by the influx of Halloween and autumn everything in stores. But despite the plethora of pumpkins, you can immerse yourself in summer a little longer at “Waves of Style – Swimwear Through the Decades” at HistoryMiami Museum, a retro-cool exhibition now on display. On Aug. 20, museum members and their guests can join friends or meet new people at the Summer Splash Young Professionals Meet-up, a lively evening of connection, culture, and summertime vibes set against the backdrop of the exhibition. The evening will feature complimentary wine, light bites, and a fun and fast-paced History of Swimwear trivia game, where the winning team will take home exclusive limited-edition HistoryMiami Museum swag. The meet-up is free for members and $10 for member guests.
