Fiery Flamenco
Ballet Flamenco La Rosa, a Miami-based, international company, celebrates its 40th anniversary on Sun. August 31, with “Juerga Flamenco” at the Moss Center in Cutler Bay. This production will incorporate live music, original choreography, and improvisation by exceptional Flamenco artists. The music is composed, arranged, and performed live by Ballet Flamenco La Rosa musicians, creating an interchange with the choreography, danced by company soloists, and including spontaneous improvisations where each artist is free to showcase their own individual style.
Skating Queen
Skate into September at the Labor Day Roller Disco at the Miami Beach Bandshell on Sun., Aug. 31. Lace up your skates join skate hosts, All Skates Go To Heaven, for the holiday weekend. DJ Ray and PAPA (UNiT #3) will spin all night long. Bring your own skates or blades. Skate rental will be available and is free for Miami Beach residents with ID. You can enjoy tunes even without skates from the Club Box Deck. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Admission is free.
Taste of Afrikin Food Fest
Celebrate a decade of African culture, art and cuisine at Taste of Afrikin 2025, on Sun., Aug. 31, 6-9 p.m. at the Scott Galvin Community Center, 1600 NE 126 St., North Miami. This 10th-anniversary edition is part of Miami Spice and offers an immersive evening showcasing the flavors, music and artistry of the African diaspora. Experience the taste of cuisines from more than 15 countries = the Bahamas, Belize, Benin, Cameroon, China, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guyana, Haiti, Holland, Jamaica, Nigeria, Senegal, Sint Maarten, Suriname, Togo, Trinidad & Tobago, UK, US and the USVI will be represented through their cuisine.
Highlights include the renowned Jollof Wars, where chefs from Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria and Sierra Leone compete for the title of Jollof Rice Champion, alongside a diverse menu of traditional dishes and innovative Afro-futuristic cuisine. Guests can explore local and regional vendor offerings, enjoy live music spanning Afrobeat, hip-hop, reggae and more, and experience dynamic cultural performances that celebrate African heritage and its global influence.
Tickets are $60 and include access to a curated selection of food and beverages, live entertainment and an evening dedicated to uplifting the richness of Black culture and culinary excellence.
